Frequently asked questions

How is the Easy Walker different from other collars and training devices?
Most training collars, such as prong collars, slip chains or martingales work on the principle that once the owner tugs on the leash, the dog should change his current behaviour. To have this effect, the collar must be placed closely behind the dogs ears and jaw since, this is the most sensitive area.  These type of collars, are usually placed on the dog by sliding it over the head.
Unfortunately, most collars will keep sliding to the base of the neck to the strongest and least sensitive part. This will make it more difficult to apply the proper correction without having to re-adjust the collar on a continuous basis.
Another common "training device" is a head halter such as the "Gentle Leader" or "Halti".  These act more like a steering device like a halter on livestock such as a cow or horse, that just steers the animal left or right, with the animal learning nothing. These days our pets are “members of the family” and have the ability to learn to “follow their Owners' lead“. Some people confuse the halter with a muzzle.  Just about every dog will try to paw this off their face. Anything around their muzzle is completely unnatural for them & they don’t understand it.  As well, a head halter that is not used correctly can also cause damage to the dog's neck, especially if the dog struggles.

Why does the Easy Walker have two collars?
By separating the two collars with “stays”, it holds the top collar in the proper place, enabling you to apply proper correction, effortlessly.

Why is the Easy Walker a great tool?
The current trend in dog training is going back to a more basic approach of correction in combination with positive reinforcement.  Many trainers have realized that it is far easier to train a dog by giving boundaries and limitations along with praise, when appropriate.
The Easy Walker has a simple, customer friendly design. It’s adjustable to fit most breeds.  Once the Easy Walker is fitted the side release buckles allow it to be put on and taken off quickly.  The other advantage is that the dog can be walked on either the left or right side because it has a Martingale built in. Parents can easily and with little effort assist their children with training the dog by attaching a second leash on either of the other rings.

Is the Easy Walker difficult to fit on my dog?
Since it is available in four different sizes and each collar is adjustable, most breeds can be fitted by simply adjusting the two collars to fit your dog’s neck size. Once your dog has been fitted, there is no need to readjust them unless your dog outgrows the setting.

Is the Easy Walker difficult to use?
No. Simply attach your leash to the centre ring and give the leash a quick tug if your dog is showing an undesired behaviour.

Can I walk my dog on my right?
Unlike the choke chain the Easy Walker can be used on your left or right and performs equally on either side.

Is the Easy Walker the same as the Ilusion collar as seen on the television show “The Dog Whisperer“?
Although the Easy Walker and the Ilusion collar both work on the same principle, they are quite different from each other. The Ilusion collar has incorporated a nylon choke at the top portion of it’s collar which allows you to only walk your dog on your left. The two main collars are fastened by means of roller buckles which have to be readjusted every time it’s placed on your dog.
